2.2 transit

Postby Kyle101 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 1:55 pm

Hi guys, posted a while ago about injectors on my van

I still had a rough idle after changing them when cold so i had my glow plugs changed yesterday hoping this would solve the problem but then he told me on cylinder 1 the glow plug had oil on it (not a mass amount) and that could indicate failing piston ring or valve stem cells which was all I needed to hear after spending so much money on it, started well today but was misfiring still for 5 mins

Does anyone have any suggestions on what he has said? Thanks

Yep, Euro-4....firstly, have you had the codes read..??

Glow plugs won't help with the rough/lumpy idle, they only run for a short time after starting. A compression test will tell you if the piston is cracked or a ring is failing, this should have been done while the glow plugs were out.

An injector leak-off test will give a good idea of injector health. If injectors test ok, a full set of learns may help.

I don't know the values for your engine but what your looking for is a difference between cylinders. If one is significantly lower compression than the others you have probably found the problem cylinder.
