I have a 2018 Transit Custom which has a fault. My diagnostics registers no fault codes so I’m wondering if someone here can suggest what might be the cause of this.
Here’s the issue:
Whilst driving in 5th or 6th gear (and less frequently other gears) at anything a than 1600rpm when I reach a slight incline the increase in engine load causes it to display an orange spanner and flashes up with ‘check manual’ symbols and enters reduced power mode.
This clears itself after 30 seconds or so and spanner/message/limp mode seems to be resolved until the next time it occurs - which could be as soon as the next hill or during the next journey.
There is no such issue if I keep the rpm higher but obviously that’s not a sustainable option.
I’ve had my diagnostics plugged in whilst driving and when the fault spanner is showing but no codes found - which makes me think it could be that the diagnostics device won’t read this particular vehicle.
There is some white/blue smoke at start up from cold along with an unburnt diesel type smell which all clears quite quickly as it warms up.
Thanks in advance for anyone able to shed some light on what’s happening here.
