Fitted a Witter towbar to my 2013 Tourneo.
Was going to wire it myself with the usual bypass relay, till I noticed a reference to stability control and trailers.
I chickened out in case not knowing a trailer was present might cause the stability control to make things worse.
I paid oodles of cash to have a dedicated electric kit fitted (and activated) by a reputable firm. That really hurt .
All the trailer lights work Ok, but I was surprised that there is no visual or audible indication to the driver that the trailer indicators are working.
I thought that was a legal requirement, or am I out of date and an indication of failure is now an acceptable alternative?
Owners manual doesn't offer any info.
Well, I had to see what would happen, didn't I?
Took out an indicator bulb and went to look at the dash. Nothing. Took out the small side repeater. Still nothing. Vehicle indicator still flashing at normal rate too ???
Switched the ign off and back on. "Trailer lamp failure" displayed for less than 10 seconds and then was gone.
Turned the indicator off and back on. No warning. Tried the hazards. No warning.
Tried the other indicator. It flashed at double speed with all its lamps working. Still no bulb failure warning though.
Any Ideas? This all doesn't look like a very reliable alternative to the flashing trailer dashboard indication I had on previous vehicles.
