Custom service advice ??

Postby petespeed » Fri Nov 23, 2018 9:21 am

Hi lads
Just a quick line I want too give my 17 plate custom Ltd an oil & filter change as it’s up at 18k now , as the ford service schedule is too big can I just buy genuine bits & get my mate too change the oil or have I got too run it in to ford main dealers ?
Cheers Pete

You can do it yourself as they are consumable items according to the owners manual.
I've done mine 3 times now and Ford have told me there's not a problem.
Use genuine parts to be on the safe side.

Thanks for your reply , do you think I could get them off eBay as a (service kit) or would you bite the bullet & buy it off main dealer?

Thanks Pete

You're right. I went to my local Ford dealer for my last lot of oil and filter and asked them if they could do me a deal and walked away with two 5 litre containers of Castrol Magnatec 0w/30 and a filter for £69.
I couldn't believe it as Halfrauds were selling 4 litre containers of 0w/30 for £51 each. Ford dealers are not always sh!t, if you don't ask you don't get.

first4carspares on eBay do good service kits
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263837922383 is the correct kit for my 2017 2.0 ecoblue 130ps
Just make sure that you’ve got the exact correct details in “my garage” and you’ll get the correct part
They advise that if there’s any doubt about the correct part to email them under “contact seller “ with your Registration, they usually reply very quickly yay or nay and offer alternatives
Their adverts also gives the option of “best offer”, if you’re not in a hurry it’s worth knocking a few quid off the asking price, you’ve got about 3 chances to “haggle”, you can usually save a few quid
Their starting price for my kit is £64:95 and they ARE genuine parts
You might get it for about £62, but start lower, I’ve got the time and enjoy a “haggle”
I’ve just bought their front brake pad kit, genuine Ford Motocraft pads & all the leads, clips and bolts
Quick delivery too , click and collect at Argos for me (very handy because you don’t have to wait in), just choose a collection point that’s handy for you
And yes you can do an oil change yourself without invalidating your warranty, better to keep the invoice they send you
Fords recommended service interval is far too long!

hi
I have now bought the same oil service kit as you and have now had to change the oil 3 times(2 with dealer)12,000 miles easy to do though, I have also ordered the same brake pad kit as you as my brake pad wear warning light has come on, have you changed the front pads yet? and if you have does the warning light go off itself after changing pads?

Hi colint2127
I hope you were happy with the deal for the service kit and brake pads
I haven’t fitted the brake pads yet, the rate of wear has reduced and it’s not needed yet, it was a good price at the time, I’m just holding them for when they are needed
So sorry I can’t advise about the wear indicator warning light
The pads come complete with “leads” to show when they’re worn, so the light should go out when new pads are fitted
Enjoy your time on your back looking at the sky!
