Ford Service Schedule

Postby davidjpowell » Mon Nov 19, 2018 8:38 pm

I am confused....

I have an early 18 Custom. When I collected it I was told that the service schedule was every 36k, with an optional 18k oil change. As it's a lease van spending money on an optional oil change seemed pointless.

At 30k, the van is now requesting an oil change. This is fine, but it does not fit with either of the above.

The service people tell me that they should have seen it at 18k... or maybe one year - which is not until end of Jan.. Unless it goes on build date perhaps.

Anyone any ideas? The Ford website has not shed any light on the subject...

I know that an interim service is carried out as i had it done on approx 15k . I paid around £79 for it although no oils were changed , it was more of a inspection. I had it done as if there are any warrant issues they couldnt refuse

Your one of the lucky ones. Most of us have it requesting oil change after a few thousand miles. Interim is a year from new and they only check it over and charge for the privilege. Ford contacted me to book it in

36k - or even 18k between oil changes is insanity. I change mine every 6k and it still comes out looking like sludge from the Torrey canyon disaster. Ask any competent diesel mechanic and he'll tell you that frequent lube changes are a 100% effective and proven way of massively extending the life and reliability of a diesel engine. My last van (a 55 plate Connect) did 254k at part-ex, and was still running like a sewing machine. Just my 10 cents worth .....

I do agree, but as it's on Lease, to a degree I don't care... I''ll do what they tell me I must do...
