Hi,
Can someone please confirm which models:spec/years these 2 alloys would’ve been fitted to?
I had a 2015(64) limited from work a few years back which had the ones with a cut out at the ends of the spokes where they meet the rim so I alway thought they were standard ltd wheels, but, there seems to be a other liniteds on the same year plate with the ones with solid spokes.
Just a curiosity question really, but I might fit alloys to my van trend, if I do I’d like to buy the year appropriate ones.
P.s will the steel wheel nuts from a custom fit the alloys.
Cheers

The first one is the later one, as fitted to my 17 plate limited, but I don't know when they changed.

I know wheel nuts are often different between steel & alloy, but don't know for sure

Hi,
My 2014 (14 plate) Limited/Titanium has the ones with holes. The spare on my Tourneo is a 16” steel ( and my older 15” steel winter set )and the nuts from the alloys fit although they do stick out a long way. I’d imagine the open steel wheels nut’s would work on the alloys. The wheel nut holes on the alloys are quite recessed though so you’d probably have to use a deep socket or similar to get them started. The alloy wheel nuts are part number 5196876 and were £1.49 + vat back in March at a main dealer when I replaced my troublesome locking wheel nuts.

Cheers, James.

THats interesting then, so no correlation between year and types of alloys on a limited. Both myself and Custom 155 had the ones with holes on 2014 limited vans whilst richbee had them on his 17. I have a friend who has a 15 limited and his cake with the solid ones. Very strange, maybe just pot luck which ones you get when the roll out of the factory. I’ll have a look at the other wheels late mic71 .
Cheers everyone

The alloys on the limited changed in 2015, during the 15 reg. Prior to that, they had the gap close to the rim. After that, they changed to the solid wheel.

Confusingly, the solid spoke alloys in the top pic come in 15" and 16" diameter (iirc) and are usually fitted to the lower spec vans and buses, although I believe they could be chosen as a no cost option on high spec limited vans and buses.

The lower picture is the 16" only alloy that's normally fitted to the high spec limited vans and buses (my Titanium Tourneo Limited had these when new) only, although may have been an option on Trends.

No, sorry, the other way round - I have the top ones, the solid ones on my 17 plate,

And now the new models have another shape again, with more spokes, bit like the old Sport ones

Doesn’t seem to make any difference though? I know people who have the solid wheels on early transits and some who have the holes spikes on vans bought later. I just can’t figure out why? I had a 2015(64) with holes and I’ve met people with earlier vans which came with solids. Richbee as stated earlier in this thread had holed spokes on his 2017 van :?

My 2013 Tourneo has the cutout spokes on 16in wheels.
Modern alloys don't tend to be very strong and I would have preferred the solid spokes for that reason.
Solid spokes would also be preferable for a seldom considered reason. Don't laugh, but easier to clean. I've got two different shaped brushes as the cutouts are too small to get a normal brush into  .

You can get the solid ones with continental tyres as new for around 400gbp which I think is a bargain really when you compare it to buying tyres fitted and balanced of a quality make.

But then you start looking at 18 inch alloys

You could have the holy spokes with winter tyres on and solids with summer tyres on. Last loads longer and you won't drive fast in winter so less loading on the gully spokes.
Maybe.
