2.0 eco blue timing marks

Postby polker8 » Fri Jul 17, 2020 10:55 pm

Hi, right getting the engine built up and was looking for the timing marks or the correct way to set the belt timing up. There is marks and lines on the pulleys but they don't all line up. When i took it apart i lined up the cams and inserted pins and the crank pulley mark lined up with the mark on the idler, but now i am thinking does the fuel pump need to be timed too?. I was under the impression the fuel pump didn't matter as the injectors fire electronically and the pump just makes the pressure,Does any one have any idea how i check it before i put it all back together to find i got it wrong :?

I have the same thoughts as you that on mk6 &mk7 s the tdci is just a pressure pump and doesn’t need timing up and the mk8 would be the same .

Thanks, so if I line the crank marks up and the cams then turn the engine over 2 1/4 turns the fuel pump should line up? is the firing order still 1 3 4 2 on these engines as i need to be sure to code the injectors?
