We are looking to replace our mark 6 LWB for a newer mark 8 looking at a LWB L3H3 what is the best year with the Euro 5 or 6.

In the past we have been able to go on the Ford etis site to look up look up information about a van but don't seem able to do so now.

Can someone look up this van please if possible WR15VGL.

Thanks

Ray

Well finally bought our mark 8 transit thoughts on it so far. Its a bit bigger than the Mark 6 that it will replace the length about the same but a bit wider. We are putting a new ply lining kit in it then will fibre glass the floor. Looks like it has had building material in it a bit of a mess under the seats and in the back so are giving a bit of a clean taking out the bulkhead to get at the fine layer of sand everywhere. Just trying to work out what mechanical work that we can do like brakes oil change etc all controlled by a computer. The bonnet sits a bit higher than our mark 6. Our mark 6 will be for sale in the new year.

We have two mk8s. One is a 16reg the other is a 68reg. The 16 reg has done 124k and still feels like new. The 68reg will have done about 60k by this time next year. It is the newer engine with adblue.

Love my 16 reg L3H3. Only a few very minor niggles but otherwise a great van.

I also had a Mk6 before. They are streets apart - the Mk8 is so nice.

Will it rust like my mk6 also did? Time will tell but I bloody hope not!

Get the most powerful engine you can btw. I think the lower rated ones are under-powered.

My mk8 L2H2 130 is fine and is roughly the same as my mk7 115, maybe even a little better. It’s so much nicer to drive and I’m very pleased with tho it’s only got 1600 miles yet. The only thing I don’t like is the gearing is so high but that just take some getting use to

We fitted a new ply lining kit today no problem. Had a look underneath thought someone had nicked half of the exhaust it ends under the van not right at the back like the mark6.

The only problem we have is a noise that you can hear from the back as we are slowing down like something is rubbing on the tyre maybe. The noise is not continuous hard to describe you hear it then it stops and starts as the vehicle coasts to a halt hope that sense. Using the brakes seems not to make a difference.

The exhaust doesn’t go all the way to the back if you look at it the end should be pointing towards the floor my l4 must be about two foot before the end of the body

So over the holiday period gave the new van some attention better than sitting in front of the TV.

Checked all the brakes they are perfect don't need to look at them for a while. Gave the engine an oil change it takes a lot of oil so had to re-fit the sump plug then finish re-draining the oil as my oil drainer is not big enough so will have to get a new one before changing the oil again.

Put a new pollen filter as there was not one fitted, the air filters fine just need to replace the fuel filter but need to get the special tool.

Don't like the wheel covers have to be held on with cable ties they are a bit battered so may replace those they have a Ford part number on them DT11-1130-EB.

Its a lot higher to look in the engine bay so now have to use some steps where the van is parked the it on a drop curb so the ground drops away if that make sense.

We will be swopping over to the new van from our mark 6 over the next few weeks.

So we have been using our new van for just over week now been down to Cornwall in it. The old van is sold did not expect to sell it so quickly.

How does the mark 8 compare with the mark 6 its a bit wider its quieter. Fitted a dash cam so had to work out how to run the cable to the fuse box wish Haynes would do a manual for it.

Now the downside it does not carry the weight as well as the mark 6 loaded the old van and it was just on 3.5 tons loaded the same in the new van went to a weigh bridge and it was a lot over so have to carry less only load it if needed. Went to 2 weighbridges and there was a difference of 83kg between to the 2 so not sure which one is most accurate.

You either used 83kg of diesel or stopped for lunch between weighbridges   :P

Yes one thing that’s is crap with mk8 is the towing weights or less. My Mk7 MWB 115bhp had a GTW of 5500kgs where the MK8 130bhp L2h2 is only 5000kgs, both are T350 and fwd. The other thing is the MPG isn’t as good
