fridge ventilation

just putting in fridge in to my transit
i know it needs venting but is it safe to have the carpet insulation behind it or just leave it plain boards seems daft to leave it plain but can you help

Is it gas powered?

Don't think I would have carpet near the back of a gas powered one.... other than that a 12v or 240v should be fine.

will it be better to have the side coverd in a sheet of metal in stead as i dont wont to leave it plan wood

Caravans have the fridges fitted into standard (ish) kitchen units with a heat deflector at the top to guide the hot air to the upper vent. If you look at any fitting instructions (Dometic website) this will give you some good guide lines.
