When I converted a mk6 jumbo the tax stayed the same and my mk8 460 ex 17 seat stayed the same on the logbook dvla classed it as motor caravan private Hgv and it stayed at £160 I phone them and they confirmed price was correct I didn’t realise that a road tax for a transit van whent that hight I thought van tax was about £240 a year apart from some mk7s on a cheap rate

Yes Ned If mine had been a van it would have been a euro5 but euro 6 came in a year earlier for psvs adds a bit more to running costs but a lest it s a bit more future proof allways seems to run out when I’m in Ireland fishing and chasing the car rally’s

For 67 plate, Euro 6 Ford Custom Transit camper, we were surprised when we were only charged £140, not just surprised, delighted! Cheaper than our previous one

Aye, any Euro4 emissions-compliant vans registered by the end of 2006 are currently taxed at £140 a year, so that covers all 2006 Mk7 vans of any size/horsepower.

If it's over 3.5t then it's classed as a HGPV so rate is £160
If it's below 3.5t then it's classed as LPGV so rate is £240 (I think)
If it is above 3.5t then of course you need a different driving licence

Yes but can you not take a medical to extend you licenses for upto 7.5 gvw I hope so when I get to 70 in 4.5 years time as I understand it you have to do it before your license expires

Yes I believe you are right, but think it's got to be renewed every 2 years.
Not absolutly sure about this, but i think I'll probably just take the easy option and get the bus down rated.
I don't drive anything else that size anyway.
Sucks getting old don't it
