Hi Guys,
I am in the middle of a complete engine rebuild on my 2006 Lynx 1.8 TDCI engine (HCPA). It’s more of an engineering exercise that’s funded by my works so it just requires my time and not my money.
Anyway, so I have completely stripped the engine and done all the necessary dimension/tolerance checks and preparation for the rebuild including skimming the cylinder head, seated the valves, honed the bores, gapped piston rings, hot tank cleaned and vapour blasted the engine casings.
I have all new bearings throughout but I can’t seem to source the crankshaft and conrod cap bearings anywhere. I have spoken to my local Ford main dealer in Manchester and they have stated that they don’t sell them. In my experience these bolts are TTY and so stretch under torque angle setting. Making them unusable if removed. I have exhausted my search and even called ARP and Lymm Engineering but again they don’t stock either bolt. There are many engine rebuild kits available for this engine but none of them come with the bottom end TTY bolts.
The part numbers are:
-1078403 Connecting Rod Bolts
-6175374 Crankshaft Bear Cap Bolts
So my questions are….
1- Has anyone managed to source these bolts before?
2- Has anyone reused these bolts?
Thanks I’m advance.
Russ
