Have you tried driving with the MAF plug off?

No I haven't.

I've changed maf, map and cam sensor with no change :(

Do you think it'd be worth getting a compression tester before changing the pump?

Connects from 2006-2013 are equipped with Anti-shudder valves

Have you physically checked /inspected it :?:

Located on L/H side of inlet manifold when looking at engine from the front.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the drive train sprocket which is attached to the fuel pump (siemens). I've got the toothed sprocket off but cant work out how to get the one behind it off?

It looks like the fuel pump bolts (x3) I need to access are behind the oil pump?

If engine has been timed up properly. You will be able to loosen off the 3 bolt securing pump in place through the 3 holes in outer edge of pump sprocket.
Also worth mentioning. looking at you pic. Your engine is a later version with a lower timing belt-in-oil - Earlier engines had a lower timing chain instead.

As you are removing HP fuel pump. It's highly advisable to REPLACE lower BELT-IN-OIL. As these do fail prematurely resulting in catastrophic engine damage :!:

Hi all,

New to the forum, glad I came across this post I have exactly the same problem with my connect. It only does it when it's in gear. I though possibly clutch/flywheel.

It's noticeable in 2,3 gear.

I'm not to sure? I would imagine it probably is. I just though if it was something "technical" it would throw a light up/code. Being that I only notice it when it's in gear and have tried in out of gear at the rev range it's "brand new". Made me think possibly warped clutch/fly.

Thanks for all your help everyone.

More updates more frustrations :)

Changed the pump (and belts) just before Christmas and everything was good for 300 of a 400 mile drive to Oban. Thought it was fixed then the stutters started to come back! Not as bad but they're there. It's only done 55k and it also sounds a little rough running to my ear. A couple of times - 1 in 20 maybe - it cuts out when started up from cold before moving off. No smoke out the back.

So to recap here's what's been done.

4 x new injectors
1 x recon fuel injector pump
Map sensor
maf sensor
cylinder head sensor (grey one, centre top of cylinder head)
Another new fuel filter
Fuel rail pressor sensor
Blanked off egr (no change after taking it for a drive so unblanked it again)

Not sure what else to do? Could it be a software/ecu issue - it's confusing that the problem appeared to go away and has now come back?

(there's still no error codes logged)

This is very very strange. I still have mine, I actually pumped my tyres up the other day at that seemed to help.
Is it worth contacting ford UK and see if they've a tec helpline?
