Transit Connect Rear Disc Brakes

Postby paul2012 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:16 pm

Hi

I am doing a rear disc brake conversion in my connect & I have managed to get the rear Brake calipers, Hand brake cable, Brake discs all for £70

From connect sportvan that was being broken up for spares (Local vehicle breakers) Unfortunatly all the body kit, doors & engine had already gone !

But I did not get the 2 fixing brackets that bolt the brake calipers to the axle.

Does anyone know where I can get them from ??

you should have taken the whole rear axle while you were at it, but seen as you did not you can only get the brackets from Vale on here. Drop him a pm or im sure he will be along soon enough to answer your question.

The axle had already been sold :( :(

I could use custom backets or just purchase new rear axle stubs for rear brake discs (The wheel bearing assembly that bolts to the axle beam)

As these would also mount the calipers :D

Think new rear axle stubs will be a small fortune, that's why Vale started making kits.

For what Vale sells the kits for without discs as you upgrade to drilled and groove it not worth hunting scrap yards to be honest.

thanks guys,i put the kit together to save you guys a bucket full of money and time.

if you go to fords and buy all the parts needed it costs over £1200

its very very hard to find the parts second hand.

parts needed to finish this kit will cost around £300 +£70 already spent =£370

i do a complete kit for £260 with NEW PADS DISCS AND CABLE

At the moment I'm unsure that the brackets are of any use to you.

When I have time I will strip my Sportvan brakes down to check

Ok Please let me know

If it helps according to Ford, the rear dics, calipers & pads on the sportvan are also fitted the the Ford Focus c-max 2003-2007
Just the the backets to mount the calipers are welded to the rear suspension knuckle on the focus (5 stud model), Where on the sportvan the bracket is part of the hub assembly
