Transit t350 90 LWB not running properly

Postby max1964money » Thu May 27, 2010 9:47 pm

I bought a second hand transit the other day from Ipswich, on the way home just got on motorway got up to 50-55mph and it cut out, after coming to a stop I restarted the van first time and it didn't seem anything was wrong but by the time I got back to Kent it must have had it happen between 16-20 times :x I took it out the following day and it was the same sluggish and cuts out every time (especially when you put your foot down or going up a bit of an incline) but starts first time after every cut out, it doesn't smoke or make unusual knocking noise. I changed fuel filter but no change, took it to local garage for diagnostic reading and they said crankshaft sensor, so got it replaced and its still the same, now there saying it could be timing chain if not it could be fuel pump. has anyone got any other suggestions I can try, Please HELP AS I NEED MOTOR FOR WORK AND AM RUNNING OUT OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks Jonh

Is it heating up? Does heater work? Could be water pump or cht sensor

as far as i am aware heater is ok,been told its more likely to be electrical problem , would you agree? or do you think it could be something else? also been told it could be thermostat, water pump, or head sensor.

your better off now to have codes read on the proper ids system, and they can data log it if it is needed..ok cost more than a local garage but at least you should have proper answer to your problem, would of thought if it was electrical it would of come up on the code reader they have used if it was any good

Thanks for your replies, I took the thermostat out today and took the van out for a run. It was running really well pulling away ok and doing 70mph+ easy on the motorway :D then as I was overtaking another motor I hit a slight bump(pothole) in the road and it cut out  . I really thought the problem was solved and possibly just had to get another thermostat, but now I wonder if it could be a loose wire or connection does anyone else think it could be :?: .

check the wiring to the fuel pump and the CKP, they can break just about anywhere but usually is by starter motor.
