Glow plug light comes on while driving

Postby tapkaJohnD » Mon Apr 01, 2024 6:54 pm

After an hour on the Motorway, wet weather. no other gauge or alarm alerts.

Glow plug light on and off, slowly. Van runs fine, full power, all seems well. Came off Mway, light goes out and stays out all the way home, twenty mins later.
If it comes on again, any advice?

Thanks,
John

You've not told us what model Transit you have..?? Mk6 or 7..?? FWD or RWD..?? Euro-3, 4 or 5..??

What fault codes are you getting..??

My apologies, M'Lord!

Mk6, 2002, RWD, Hitop, LWB, must be Euro-3?

I have FORScan and have obtained the following codes:
Powertrain Control Module - P0650 Malfunction Indicator Lamp. On this model, the Handbook tells me that the same lamp on dash doubles as the Glowplug light and "Check Engine" light, the "MIL".
and
Restraint Control Module - B1869. "Lamp Air Bag Warning Indicator Circuit Open"

As said, the 'MIL' flashed on and off, slowly, at about 1 sec intervals, for few miles towards the end of my Mway trip, then went off and has stayed off since.

Van behaving normally and well. Should I be concerned if it stays off?

Hmmm...P0650 is a faulty MIL....so you may have a poor earth at the back of the clocks somewhere or the MIL bulb itself is not well.
