Postby M3Stig » Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:48 am

has anyone done anything to there mk6 or mk7 ?

ive done a kenwood dabs 7017 and some focal 570ac but im now on my second set of speakers and the same thing seems to of happened again

now im not sure if the speakers are being under powered if that is a thing? or i have been extremely unlucky but distortion is doing me in!!!

The diaphragm in a speaker is electrically vibrated.
Vans have many sources of vibration. Vibration can be felt, heard, seen.
Acoustic is sound vibrations in the air - the air waves/pulses are vibrations.

A panel near to a speaker can be vibrated by the speaker and the van - vibrations of the same/similar frequency can cancel or enhance what we hear.

The electric supply to the speaker needs to be whatever the speaker needs to work.

There's a lot of info' on the web about sounds.
2012 MK 7 E 5 100-350 3.5 XLWB RWD Duratorq 2.2L CR TC 14 DSL 100/125 PS E5 DPF BCM PCM RCM
Was DRRB 74 KW 100 HP 100 cv. Now CYR5 125 HP. PCM could still be for 100 HP.

It might be worth checking to see if the door speakers are touching the window winder mechanism. That would cause vibration and distortion

1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)

2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

I havent changed the standard speakers in my doors as I found them to be alright. Just changed to a Kenwood DAB headunit and a kicker 8” sub under the passenger seat next to the handbrake. Does me ok. I did find in my old Connect that I had to make sure the speakers werent too deep and also put a layer of dynamat around the speaker covering the thin metal which did improve the sound.

Depending on what speakers you have you may well be under driving them if the head units inbuilt amp isn’t powerful enough.
