Mk6 bi fuel , fls and fuel filter

Postby Dubboi7 » Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:51 pm

Ok guys after a bit of help . After no problems at all with my transit in yrs apart from no power at all due to blocked cat ( new exhaust sorted that out) and the usual brakes and so on, it started playing up few weeks ago with it suddenly losing any power ( seemed choked ) then all of a sudden it would just pick back up to full revs and drove great for anything between hr to a day , but now got worse it did it 3 times in 30mins driving home so put autel on it and came with code saying fls ??? A mechanic mate said sounds like fuel filter to him ,,,
So ,,, i bought one but have NO IDEA where it is in the van , all YouTube vids are for diesel and say right side under bonnet but it aint there ,,,, can someone tell me where?? And if i really do have to drop the tank and replace the pump/fls sensor????

What were the actual fault codes..? The Autel unit is just a generic code reader, best you get Forscan onto it.

Being a bi-fuel machine it will be a 2.3L petrol/LPG..yes..?? If so, it is vastly different to all diesel transits and the fuel filter will not be where the diesel filter is. Fuel filter will be under the van on a bracket bolted to the chassis.

They also have an LPG filter:

Yes, you have to drop the tank to get at the in-tank fuel pump & fuel level sensor.

Yes it is a 2.3 petrol/lpg ,,,I can’t remember the exact code il run it again.
I’ve bought the filter so fingers crossed il replace it and see if it makes any difference,,if not I guess il have bite bullet and drop tank and do pump

As for forscan , can I use it/get it to use on iPad? As I only have an iMac not a laptop, is it expensive?

Forscan is free to download onto a windows laptop. You can get a version of Forscan "lite" for iOS but it's not free, $6.99 US I believe. Functionality is reduced in the "Lite" version though.
