Mk7 dashboard

Postby Needs1975 » Thu Feb 08, 2024 1:23 pm

Hi all,

I have a 2007 mk7 tipper. My dashboard dials have all stopped working, along with the radio. The engine management light (cog) was on before but not now, all other dash lights work. Any ideas?

you have to disconnect each one ..and read them individually. with engine not running, both should show at least 12.5 volts or more.

all the best...mark

there have been issues with the clocks , internal; circuits and soldered joints ...sometimes a thump on the dash above would prove that this is the issue ..as the clocks would then flicker or come on .

if so, note: im not saying it is so ..then there are people who fix them, there are a couple advertising on ebay

Well this is only one, of many choices, and that is : you have is to take out the cluster and send it to:

https://www.ecutesting.com/
(please read the website on how they operate this service, i believe they will send you a box to put it in .)

This is one of many companies that perform this service ...the above one, as far as i can make out, from feedback here on this forum, is one of the trusted ones.

Auto electricians ..will only be able to help so much ..they will end up sending your cluster to one of these companies.

By sending it yourself, you cut out the middleman.

Total cost will be in the region of £70. (check the websites prices)

how to take clocks out ..yes know its not a transit , but its a ford and mostly the same

Hope this helps.

I see your point, but it doesnt explain why the radio stopped working at the same time. Is there a relay or fuse that could be dud?

Don't know, on some the radio set up is linked to the cluster ..the time etc

think this happened about 2007 on the connect ..i suppose they went the same on transits at the same time.

No assumptions, it's such a common source of electrical gremlins that the aux battery needs to be checked out before moving on.
You can check the voltage of each battery at rest, because they're electrically separated until you turn on the ignition. Does the central locking work when the van has been parked up, not running, for a few hours? If it works, then the aux battery is probably OK.
