It is ..... but......
I need something to tell each relay when to go on and when to go off
also putting a function in the script to turn on one pin for just over a second then off to send a signal to the BCM to turn the ESP off when I put it i 4wd so there's an obvious symbol on the dash

So got the first attempt at a "shift program" loaded onto the pro trinket, just need to hook up the hardware to it an see what I've made an arse off when it does what it's not supposed to and not what it needs to
But that's a wee jobbie that I'll hopefully get time to do while I'm off. (Not holding my breath though

On another note, i found someone selling ODM driveshafts for the ranger front end at a VERY reasonable price... 2 new complet shafts for £30 less than Thornton were quoting for 1 second one still got to modify the hubs to take the shorter splines then get the front propshaft shortened and the drive shafts lengthened. Oh and the stator rings from the transit fit straight onto the ranger CV joint
So hopefully the van will be back on the ramps after new year so can get the diff fitted
Imagehere's a pick of another truck just for the fun of it....

Well that was interesting

Van was in the air yesterday and offered up the front diff and shafts to see how it'd look.
And I think it looks good shame the rest of the van is not a shiny but then you wouldn't see the new bits

Unfortunately the diff housing is too close to the engine oil filter housing so the next project is to somehow make a remote oil filte. Whether that's just making an adapter for the filter head housing and piping from that or making a plate for the engine and a dummy plate for the cooler and move the whole thing I'm not sure yet ImageImage

But it's getting there and the ranger shafts fit the hubs with only a slight adjustment of the spline length in the hubs as the ranger shafts have a shoulder on the inner endImageImageImage

Will you have to add the abs pick ups rings to the d/s too?

I was just thinking the same about the abs :? Can you not change the CV to the transit ones? Thus giving you the abs and correct size spline length.

Yes wondered who'd be the eagle eyes

Yes stator rings will be swapped over for the final fit. The outer dia of the CV is the same
I decided to go for ranger CV as there brand new and came as a complete shaft
But from the info I could find (without stripping them is the spline and shaft size in the CV is different between ranger and transit but could be wrong...

Can still use std CV joint if I need to, either way I'm going to have to have modified shafts to the right length.

You might be able to help me abit here, how do the drive shafts connect to the diff/box? Are they just slotted in or bolted or have a locking clip kind of thingy? Just curious as I need to remove my shaft to fit the new CV.

Ned there held in by a spring clip and it's a matter of brute force and ignorance to get them out usually, I've never done transit ones as never owned or worked on any ladies FWD vans.

Cracking that saves me ripping the dam thing up trying to yank the shaft out, a job for when it's a bit drier me thinks.

Cheers knobby

Sometimes it's good to get into some proper engineering mods, though kinda think I've bitten off more than I can chew trying to do it to my working van rather than a project van
But enjoying the challenge also! apart from the writing program code that I know there s folk out there that could do it in no time compared to my months of fanning so far and only managing to turn one LED light on but not even managed to get it to turn off
