grinding noise

Postby kennystag » Tue Nov 13, 2018 9:56 am

Hi Chaps,
When I turn the steering wheel on my MK5 tranny there is a terrible gridding noise coming from the front passenger side of my Campervan, I am not sure if it is coming from the top or the bottom of the suspension. Any body help with this one before I strip her down.
Cheers All

Loose power steering belt causes bad noises when steering

You can check them by injecting some oil through the rubber boot and then turn the steering wheel: if the ball joint is rotten, the noise will disappear. If it wasn't the ball joint, you can glue a cycle tyre patch on the hole to reseal it.
