Changing the roof height on MK3

Postby Optomisticnick » Sun Nov 11, 2018 1:14 pm

Has anyone chopped a high roof off a scrapped transit and attached it to a mid-high roof one?

- is this even possible?
- were they made with steel roofs? or were they all fibreglass?
- I know it's easier to buy a new van etc. but that's not the point.

- if it is, does anyone know of anyone selling a high roof? or a scrappy with one in?

Cheers,
Nick

I think the ford fit mk3 high roof was fibre glass with steel supporting bars I think it was blotted on and sealed on .
A mate of mine did a campervan conversion on 100l mk3 semi high roof lwb but it came from Shelldon hightops they cut all the roof off at the gutter line even over the drivers cab I remember my mate not likeing what they had done as it made it weak he put a strengthening bar in and made a top cupboard and used a low roof headlineing to finish it off
