1993 transit, automatic gearbox issue

Postby Smith1990 » Sun Nov 11, 2018 10:59 am

Hi,
I have a 1993 transit converted into a camper. 4th gear never worked and the other gears were sloppy so we reconditioned the automatic gearbox. the belts inside were well worn so we assusmed this was the cause. Anyway, its all back together now and reverse 1st and 2nd are perfect. The problem i have is that 3rd and 4th no longer work. The gearbox just stays in 2nd and wont go no further. We also have a warning light on the dash that was never there before and that im unable to find in the manual or online.
Anyone know where im going wrong and what the warning light is?

Warning light pic attached.

Thanks
Craig

Can't help with gearbox fault I'm afraid,
But the light is 'water in fuel' there is a sensor in bottom of fuel filter,
Either it's genuinely detecting water settled in bottom of the filter,or more likely the wires have become bare and are shorting out against each other.
Won't have any effect on the gearbox or engine performance.
