Are they the same fitment for petrol and diesel vehicles?

Yes although I'm not sure about actual g/box ratios but the pinto engined transits had an adaptor plate between the engine and g/box and a different flywheel.

I've got an adaptor plate and pinto, so it's just a case of di out pinto in? Pinto is from a MK2 my truck is a MK2 with a Mk5 Di and mt75.
