Argh Coalman, you passed it on to me, :D

my nearside lower started groaning this morning, its gaiter has split, a slodge of grease has quietened it for now and I've ordered two new ones now.

Also changed a couple of worn tyres for new ones.

Be interesting to hear how you managed to get the three b*****d bolts out of the bottom arm? The guy that designed it like that needs to visit the rough end of a rag mans' bugle.....ha.

Whilst I think on. Last year I left the mig welder in the shed with nearly a full roll of M Mart gasless wire. Came to use it this spring and the reel was covered in what I can only guess is flux which seems to have absorbed the damp and sprung from the wire. Completely bunged up the gun.
Could be wrong but anyway, this year I'm using SIP gasless wire and the reel is coming in doors until I need the welder again.

Ha, I've got spare clutch cables too Coalman!

and as for getting the bolts out Vanfox,
I use a two and a half foot long breaker bar and a single hex spanner on the other side, although I had one a few years ago that one of the nuts was rounded off so I welded it to the arm to stop it turning and ground it off afterwards, and a mate just used an angle grinder on his as the new ball joints come with new bolts.

Believe it or not they came out ok.
Ring spanner on the bolt head and impact socket/24" bar on the nut, then a tap with a hammer to knock them out :D
had the Clarke 240v impact gun and angle grinder at the ready just incase though

I had exactly the same problem with a 4.5kg spool of MM wire.
White powder clogged the liner and made the welder very unhappy.
Use impax/Sip now with no problems.
SIP seems to give a less shitty looking weld which is a bonus.

Don't get me wrong, they all stick, just the finish looks better.

passed Mot!!!!!

One advisory (General underside corrosion) which was a bit rich because he said 'well it has to have something wrong' (it was fine).

When he popped the bonnet and was faced with an intercooler and turbo setup all shiny he jumped back and said 'f*ck me what have you done!' ...in a good way...I think

My bottom ball joint arrived and I went to fit and found the wishbone has a rust fracture alang the side,

So I've had to go this morning and remove a wishbone from my spare to replace it, and I will swap it over after my lunch.
