I'll see your inner wing and raise you an inner wing, outer wing and turret panel, and 3 rolls of Mig wire!!!!

why is it not a heap of brown?
get those radiators welded into the van

Q. Using gas or gasless?

I use gasless :(
You can pick a 4.5kg reel up for about £30.
gassed gives a better looking weld although all I'm looking for is "stuck not pretty" and I need to use it in windy conditions.

quote, "holy sh*t that's keepin ya busy "

Both sides, wings, inner wings, turret panel and headlight panel all replaced, plus rear cross member and closing panel.

N/s step as well. All from Central panels, ebay.

"Chassis" legs and shocker mounting replaced using heavy duty steel shelving. 27 whizzer discs and 30 emery belts plus new bearings in two whizzers. (angle grinders).
I use gasless too, found it easier if I take the shroud off so I can see the arc.

Spent half an hour going mad trying to find a brake shoe, I got a new set for my old van but never fitted them, they've been in my garage for about two years, the box disintegrated ages back and now when I want them I can only find three of the feckers!

So I gave up on the planned re-shoe and as it had started raining I decided to make a plate up so that I can fit a starter to a DI engine without a g/box, I used some 4mm steel plate and cut out a hole for the starter nose and then drilled some holes to fit it to the plate and then drilled some more to bolt the starter plate to the engine....job done

Curiously it needed a couple of thickish washers between the plate and the engine to get the starter and flywheel teeth meshing fully, otherwise it was only meshing halfway, even though the plate is basically flat across the back of the engine just the same as where the bellhousing would be?

I should have taken a pic it would be easier to understand then :?

took everything back off to find the noise.

Bottom ball joint when not under pressure has no play and moves smoothly.
When tilted slightly to mimic the "load posistion" shows it's furked.

the normal lift test lied to me

Im having lots of issues with my mk5 tdi 100ps.
Oil leak in turbo.
Windscreen so scratched from previous owners wiper blades, covered in cement dust. Driving into the sun i simply have to pull over ] cant see anything.
Noises and clunka under my feet, suspect ball joints, not enough money for mechanic or bal joint tools.
Aircon empty with a slow hidden leak and its getting into summer now.
Propshaft carrier completely shot, jattering my teeth out when i take off from the lights.
Radio sounds as if antennas come unplugged.
Rust everywhere.
Tyres out of date by 5 years, chunk miss]ng from one.

However i did have a win today, the window winder wasnt working and ] took it apart and found the teeth on the big geararm had just been chewed away. So i added some weld (arc) the tops of them and ground them back to shape and i have a work]ng window again.
Im a real battler and if this van breaks soon, i might find myself with nowhere to go but the end.
Trying desperately to earn money to bring my philip]no wife to australia and im a high school drop out with no qualifications, so this sh*t van is onl= just keeping me alive.
