Conversion axle MK1

Is there anyone with some experience to mount a later model axle, for example a Transit MK7, under a model MK1?

Can I ask why you want to do this?

I am just about to mount a Mk7 axle under a Mk2, to get a taller ratio (3.58:1) The van (and axle) are both LWB dual wheel versions. First measure and it looks too wide, I might have to narrow it a bit. Also going to change front hubs to the later stud pattern, so I can fit these!

Those 16”-ish looks fine to me. But isn’t the axle from a “later than a mk1/2 model” a bit different? I mean like the mounting of the springs/shocks?....

You could just change the diff ratio rather than change the whole axle?

What engine do you have fitted? If it is the original V4 or diesel, there might not be much point changing the whole axle. As Ralph said, there were taller ratios available.

Yes, all different. A lot of work to fit a different model axle.

I needed something significantly taller than the original offerings, as I did an engine swap.
