Just looking at my January 1971 price list... (where's me anorak!) and automatic transmission was £90 on top of the list price as an optional extra!
Where's me anorak!!!

I can remember a 1966 D Transit Diesel walkthrough laundry van which used to come to our village, which had the Perkins 1700cc and automatic. HOW SLOW would that be.....

I've a mk3 'L' reg. and its an auto-box.
Only think I find with it is its useless on hills.
The power just dies on it.

I'm hoping to go to Nottingham, to ADC Autotune. They have a rolling road to tune the engine to get a little more performance out of it.

I'll let you know if they are any good.
Totally hands free driving......!

I've got a mk2 2.0 pinto with auto box. I dont like it at all and will be either swapping for a manual or putting a diesel in it.
only having 3 speeds is not enough in a van. climbing a hill in top gear it starts to lose power so changes down and promptly red lines in 2nd. holds 70mph ok but better with a 5 speed I suspect.
