I do think I have a slightly dead front battery though so I might replace them both for some good ones.
loot wrote::shock:.

I want to get it so I can jump in the van at 8am and it be warm and a bonus would be cleared glass.
Then when we go for runs I can turn it on and go for an hour or 2 and get back in the van and it be similar to when we jumped out.

Being a runner though the difference of outside temp of below 5 degrees and 5 degrees + can be the difference of being freezing and having hats and gloves etc to sweating like fook

I have a couple of timers I've modded 1 so it works on 12v and I have WiFi control over it too my phone but that's overkill, the other is a combi 7 day timer 12v and has a rechargeable battery so it keeps settings which is good because I can turn it on and off and it'll keep the settings for a month or so.
5kw that'll heat your workshop, poor red will be glowing red hot, door cards and bits of dashboard melting ........nice and toastie like

I sat in it with the blower in the front at the seat vent pictured, maybe about 20 mins it was on but I didn't get the feeling that it was that hot. More testing needed i think but I'll give feedback.

I used to love the x BT mk4 with it’s d5w and 7 day timer the neighbour Wear not to happy though because it woke them up in a morning but grate to have an extra 15 minutes in bed in winter just jump in the van and drive straight off and with the engine been more or less up to temp it helped the MPG

Mines a D10W so lots bigger than yours it runs on cherry from a modified Jerry can and it'll give me about 20hrs of heating the whole van front and back and runn it nearly every morning before heading off, bloody great to have warm cab, defrosted windows and an engine that's at 60+deg before starting and dry warm gear in the back when I get to site. But that's just me being smug
Our other van has the d5 airtronic with a similar controller as yours, but my vans a 7day timer. Keep an eye on eBay for one from ebber/webasto etc they just have a permanent bat +ve to keep it's memory.
And it's basicly a fancy switch on/off with a thermostat for air temp.

Biggest risk of flame is from exhaust, as long as that's routed safely then your fine to leave it running for hrs,

If you've tapped into the tank with the official port on the sender unit then it will start drawing air at arround 1/4 tank so it can't empty your fuel and leave you stuck and cold

If your changing yr batts too, it'll use next to nothing to run it and you'll be fine.

We fitted a eberspacher d2 in our Jumbo camper.... Possibly one of the best things we fitted as we use the camper all year around...
Pulls around 8 amps at start up then drops back to an amp or so when maintaining temp (temp is critical to avoid the heater continually cycling through its start up boost mode.... Both power wise and noise)
Fuel consumption is around a litre every 4 hours.... On max (in real time use its next to never on max)

Kerosene/paraffin is much cleaner burning and can be used as a 'service cycle'
We regularly have had ours running for close to 2 weeks none stop when we've been away in winter...
No problems as long as they are installed correctly.... Bear in mind the exhaust gets bloody hot.

Fitting intake/exhaust silencers reduces noise by close to 50% IMHO.

My exhaust is out of the way enough I think.
The heater is under the passenger seat and if I'm in the back and it is ticking over I can barely hear it, actually the pump gulping is quite loud underneath the van lol maybe I can muffle it?

Tried the heater yesterday for an hour, left the van and did a run race 5 miles on an actual car race track lol.

Came back and the van was hot, the heat at the top of the cab was notably hot in my forehead though which was strange

The van didn't blow up thankfully.

Oh it smelt a bit too which the mrs didn't like but I told her it was the smell of oil etc burning through the heater system and it was nearly gone in the end.

Depending on how you've mounted the pump the tap can echo through the van something rotten. Try a softer or more isolated mount for the pump.

Reckon smell will burn off after a bit.

Put the heater intake duct at the roof

The heater sucks from low down ie. The intake vent is in the seat base. And the outputs are also at the seat base.

I'll look at adding something to the pump but it is mounted the same as the 1 on the van though and about a foot away so I'm not sure :?

Right so real test done tonight as I went to track and could see my van from close enough to see if any flames came off it

So I came home from work (5 mins drive). Put the heater on and dialed it to low then I walked the dogs (10mins) came back and it was going fast then I checked it half hour later and heard nothing so assumed I'd turned it off lol thought screw it.

So that was 16.10 to 18.35 i left the house to go on the van to track about 20 min drive and got in the van and the heater was quietly blowing heat out which in low in the cab with bulkhead was nice and cosy not hot but certainly not freezing, left it running and drove to track also had the van heater on which is much more air circulating but got to track and left it running for my session.

Got back to the van and jumped in and my it was cosy again. :D
Turned out off and it took at least 10 mins to blow the heat out and shut down.

I'm very happy with it and on really cold days it is a must.

I paid 170 ish for it and 15 for the in tank straw kit and 5 quid for the 12v 7 day timer.

Now i need to add a power switch to turn the whole lot on and off and I need to program the timer. Will be 2x on and 2x off but it needs to cool down and shut down you can't just kill the power :(

Normally once you turn the "run" signal off it'll go through it's own shutdown sequence so wouldn't all you need to do would be to use your timer to interrupt the signal from from your thermostat switch, No?

Glad you like it, i don't think I could have a van without a heater in it now

I love it, especially getting into a warm van as I freeze my giblets off the rest of the day lol.

The on off switch is push only, i plan to have the timer power up the heater but I tested it by pushing the on button while plugging the fuse in but it ignores the button until you let go and push again, so i can set on then on again 1 minute later and it'll come on, but i can't do that for shut down so I will just set it to turn off by the switch. That's if the off actually enables off rather than just open circuit

I could use a circuit or 2 timers maybe. I'll scratch my head over it I guess people don't mind it powered up but off, just I don't like the power panel illuminated see.

I'm sure a man of your calibre can sort it out have you got the wiring diagrams for it and the timer?

ANDZ you've got your heater there :P

IAIN no diagrams it is Chinese and doesn't have the same wiring as the eberspacher.

The control panel has only 3 wires and it had on / off / variable knob for fan speed /heat.

But it also has an irda for remote input and the knob is not pot it is button type and the leds light up along and flash etc, I think it is coded comms.

I can press on or off but luckily if the timer stays on for 1min it doesn't affect it ie it'll see the first press then ignore its duration or subsequent presses 8)

Have you checked arround net as sure I've seen planar diagrams before somewhere?
