Smoke under acceleration

Postby Warloks38 » Sat Dec 01, 2018 8:05 pm

Hi guys I've noticed my transit smokes under acceleration it's only really noticeable through the headlamps of a car behind me at night.it's had a new pump fitted and it runs without fault starts on the button and has plenty of pulling power the only thing I have noticed is the egr flange is leaking at the manifold as there's a bolt snapped off .it's had an mot since the pump was fitted so I'm guessing it's all set up ok but I have no history of services.it's
04 t300 85
Thanks

Smoke in headlights is not something to go by as particles are highlighted.
You've not said what type, size or power of engine you have, but if you've had pump done in guessing it's most likely a mk6 ?

If it's had an MOT then you should be able to get the testers readings from the test documents.

Slight leak at the EGR wouldn't affect it adversely I would suggest but better to get that sorted.

If it doesn't show up during the day I wouldn't worry about it...
It's a dirty old diesel when you put your foot down you get smoke that's the basic principal as your giving it more fuel to burn

2004 will be mk6 TDDI so no DPF
All diesels will smoke under load/hard acceleration.
