2015 Transit - door dropped down

Postby LDO » Mon Jul 04, 2016 7:44 pm

Hello

Has anyone had an issue with the door dropping down and forward? Mine has and it's caused damage to the front wing now when opening the door.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem? Under warranty for this?

Cheers

The transit custom are known for door hinges bending when the door gets blown, Ford seem to be fixing them but like anything i doubt they will admit there is a problem.

Not sure about the mk8 though(which have you got?), maybe it wants adjusting? Either way get it into Ford and see what they say.

Being a 2015 jobbie...isn't it still under warranty??

Hello,
Am new to the forum. Have got the same problem on a Sept 2014 registered L3 H3. Door now rubs against wing.
Local Ford dealer "sorry to hear about the problems" and are taking a look next week, but they need to generate a quotation to submit to Ford Warranty.
Here's the rub. They say it'll take 8-10 weeks to get approval to do the repairs. I queried it and am awaiting a response.
Anyone else had to wait that long just to get approval?
Cheers

Only 2 possible scenarios, 1.the door has been caught in the wind and bent the hinges forwards. 2.wear and tear caused the door to sag and id expect the bottom to be nearer the wing although you'd feel it hitting the patch when closing it and that would be awful and it would have pay if you lift the door.

Anything else would probably be physical damage ie wing bent in a bit etc.

Can't see any other reason.

I think the bolts on the hinges can be undone and you can adjust them a little bit.

thanks, il have a look if I can get to the bolts

id have known if it blew in the wind, the gap on the drivers door is a lot tighter than on than on the passenger side? and catches equally top and bottom of the wing.

baffled by it

The Ford fix was shorter door check straps and they adjusted the wings forward to create a bigger gap.
