T350 125

Postby Slicky 125 350 » Sun Jul 19, 2020 12:06 am

Hi guys, well what a day. The bullshit rubber decided give up on the bottom crank pully on my 13 plate t350. Thankfully in a car park at first start while backing out space no power steering. Eh turn off engine open bonet find bottom pully trying wreck radiator. 170795miles. Which idiot put rubber as an idea for a cranck shaft pully. Beast in garage and waiting diagnosis. Lord Knobrot please read and explain. I know ive been very lucky not too wreck it. But why a rubber cusion fittinibg and with a high milage engine is there a better one. Ive heard in pasing today oh get such a one but why make it rubber cusioin and not staright cut. Argh.

Hopefully no timing cover was hurt with it popping off!

It's a vibration dampener, it'll of stopped your crank shearing or other resonance damage.

Have you noticed a squeak recently?

170k is not a bad milage for it.

I agree it'd be better if it was made so it wouldn't try to wreck stuff on its way out, but most folk want a cheap van for the short term.

Rubber has been fitted in crankshaft pulleys since the 1980s as a harmonic damper... even in the 2.5Di engine.

Its just someone could have made it a bit more durable in the later engines!

Thanks for the tell tails but never noticed any symptoms you have descrided.

Only thing that I noticed was a wobbly noise clunk when turning engine off from time to time not everytime. At point it broke.

Anyways its back, have turn key twice to get started now and force but still has that shudder now and then if the engine not left settle tick over before shutting off.

If i force too start first turn key has engine knock, but only on start up.

Came back from garage with first prob fixed, new front disks and bearings full service mot. But eps and engine light on!

When turning breaks crunch, stood still brake pedal travels floor if you really shove it. Travel empty van at speed down country lane silly sunday meets cyclist yeah. I was in other lane with no lock up from brakes. No lock i mean no abs lock free brake help.

Had it on laptop came back glow plugs all 4, bugger still starts. MAS ABS sensors and DPF sensor.

Was told dpf had been deleted, doubt it as whines worse than my two yr old! This when bought and before all this.

Oh clutch onway out 20k estimated left but gearbox crankshaft o ring leaking too.

Not sure i trust this garage, even though i broke it. Never had an issue brakes nor lights on dash before or even on day when i broke it, as turned ignition on only try help shove it back into a space.

Ideas guys and advice appreciated.

Thanks
